Lent is a forty-day season of letting go of the trivial and stripping away the superfluous. We get down to the heart of the matter of our faith, peeling away the layers of orthodoxy until we finally get down to the bare essentials of Christian belief and practice. As Lent reminds of our mortality, we hear the call to live through this season as though we have only forty days to live. So we ask ourselves: In the time we have left, what lessons have we learned, what wisdom must we pass on, what truths must we impart? In this series, we’ll explore eight of the most essential lessons of our faith, revealed in and through the life of Jesus and all the followers who’ve ever come after him.
