The book of Revelation, the Apocalypse, is this summer’s video lecture series on this engaging and disputed Biblical book. This course will ask what the Apocalypse is, why it has played such a volatile role in Western culture, and how it continues to be meaningful to contemporary readers. Lecturer Dr. Craig Koester authored Revelation: A New Translation with Introduction and Commentary for Yale University Press (2014) and the popular Revelation and the End of All Things (2001, second edition 2018), a readable guide to a most challenging Bible book. The course first puts the Apocalypse in its historical context and then provides an overview of the literary work helping us see a vision of hope and finally tracing its impact throughout western history.
