An Introduction to the Wesleyan Quadrilateral
Two-session Course • October 11 and 18 • 6-7:30pm • Led by Rev. Jerry
The Wesleyan Quadrilateral is a phrase that has relatively recently come into use to describe the principal factors that John Wesley believed illuminate the core of the Christian faith for the believer: Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience. The United Methodist Church asserts that “John Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. During this two-session course, participants will explore this method of theological inquiry and come away with a better understanding of our heritage as Methodist and glean some helpful insights into how we can embrace, constructively, the tasks of faithful inquiry and interpretation.
