CURRENT SERIES - Behind the Music
Long before there was a hymnal, there was a harp in David's hands. Scripture's oldest prayers are songs—laments, hallelujahs, complaints sung straight at heaven—because the writers of the Bible understood something we sometimes forget: there are truths the heart will only receive set to music.
The songs we love work the same way. They slip past the part of us that argues and go straight to the part of us that aches—saying something about longing, loss, and grace that we didn't know we needed to hear.
This summer, we'll take a handful of songs seriously and listen for what they've been telling us about God all along.
